Board Bill 66 and Constitutional Realities

One of our commissioners, Dr. Scott Egan, had the following to say regarding a new bill before the St. Louis City Board of Aldermen:

·        It shouldn’t be necessary to remind a police officer or an Alderman that this country is not yet LEGALLY an oligarchy. Rights apply equally to all citizens, regardless of their ability to contribute large sums of money to your election campaign, or whether they were your classmates.

·        Aldermanic Board Bill 66 stands in direct violation of the First Amendment, as most of those trying to help the homeless are religious organizations. The evening of 6-23-16, Churches on the Streets, which HAS permits to distribute food, clothing and hygiene items to those in need was directed to leave or be arrested by MSTLPD officers. This is blatantly in violation of the CURRENT Ordinance and prior to Board Bill 66 being read INTO LAW.

·        Video of that event may be viewed on the Facebook page for Churches on the Street. It could also be argued that the City of Saint Lewis has, de facto and de jure, established a “state religion” supported by taxpayer dollars,  as it has long looked the other way for St. Patrick Center’s violating the “quality of Life” policing efforts, and had directed uncommitted HUD housing monies to be donated to the Center or to Catholic Charities.

·        The recent upsurge in “quality of life” policing in the Downtown and Downtown West  areas violates the 4th and 8th Amendments to the US Constitution, and the negative applications of “Quality of Life” policing have been so held by SCOTUS.

Thoughts on Orlando

After hearing about the Orlando Shooting today I went to a local shop to buy some soda and some snacks. When I got to the check-out, the attendant was lamenting “the kind of people they (and a local McDonald's) have to serve.”

I asked her about the Orlando shooting and she talked about how horrible that was. I told her that the kind of people that the poorer people in the neighborhood have to deal with are the kind that will try to blame a St. Louis homeless shelter for the Orlando shooting. She said nothing more to me in response to that.

The Orlando shooting is a tragedy; it is a deep dark, horrible crime.

There are, however, deep, dark , horrible crimes going on in the society of the America of Political Correctness that are constantly and loudly lauded as being good things, such as the supposed “right” of a woman to put her own children to death simply for the sake of perceived convenience.

Too many are the people who are quick to call out what they see as evil without ever once looking first back at their own wickedness and evil. As it is written, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” If you sow wickedness you will also reap wickedness, and this society has been sowing wickedness for a very long time.

The harvest has barely begun. Except this society relent and repent, wickedness, darkness, horror and blight will be the full and complete inventory of the fruit they shall reap—able, honestly, to blame no one but themselves, for had they repented, the Lord would have relented. Witness the situation in the book of Jonah, and see if I do not speak truly.

The Scriptures also command us, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

If you desire to reap goodness and light, then first sow it yourself.

New Hymn, "The Witness on the Cross!"

The hymn for today speaks the Truth about us and about salvation.

Play it on MuseScore for a limited time.

The text follows here:

The Witness on the Cross!
I AM the Way and the Truth and the Life; not even one
even goes in the general direction of the Father
if not in Me!”

By the Heaven’s grace abundant
Comes the witness of the cross;
By it we know we are driven
By perversions stained in dross!
There is no one oh so precious
As the witness on the cross!
He has come to show us Heaven
As the witness on the cross!

No more misrepresentations!
We are foul and stained and lost!
No more of our weak excuses!
Our rebellion has a cost!
And the witness come from Heaven
Demonstrates it on the cross!
There is no entrance to Heaven
But the witness on the cross!

And the door there is e’er blood-stained
With the stench of our foul cost!
There is no other incursion
But knowing that we are lost!
There is no path we can travel
Without Heaven’s precious cost,
For the door is sealed forever
Unless someone pay that cost!

We cannot give compensation
For infinite is that cost,
And no effort can exchange it—
All ability is lost!
But the One we have offended—
Our sweet God—can pay the cost!
Jesus Christ, our precious Savior,
Is the witness on the cross!
