Antonin Dvořák composed the melody that I used in the hymn for today as
the main theme of the Largo in his 9th symphony, “From the New World”.
It is a heart-rendingly peaceful theme, and I have used it before. I use
it today, with a new arrangement, to, hopefully bring out the
heart-rendedness of those who are, in whatever way, persecuted in their
faith.
